Croatia's first ever air race is set to begin on Saturday (May 29th) and will run across the bank holiday weekend, the Croatian Times reports.
It is being held to recognise the 100th anniversary of air travel in the country, as well as a way of educating people on the merits of aviation as a sport and profession.
Attendees at the air race, which will take place in the skies above the island just off the Dalmatian coast, will be offered the chance to meet pilots and learn about different planes, the newspaper explains.
The event is the work of organisers Ivan Simic and Ivan Jaklenec, an air traffic controller and pilot respectively.
People who head to the race could use their time in Croatia to relax on the Dalmatian coast and visit some of its most cultured spots, such as the nearby city of Split.
