Book Croatia accommodation now ahead of skiing World Cup

Skiing fans may wish to book accommodation in Croatia ahead of a prestigious event that will come to the country next year.

At the 47th International Ski Congress in Antalya, Mount Sljeme, near Zagreb, was awarded the hosting rights of the World Cup Slalom Championships, reports the Croatian Times.

It will take place between January 4th and 6th next year - and those hoping to attend may be best advised to secure a villa or waterside property now as demand is likely to be significant.

The ski season traditionally opens in Soelden, Austria with a series of slalom races, before ending in Lenzerheide, Switzerland in mid-March, the newspaper explains.

That means Croatia will host a pivotal mid-season meeting and the final of the slalom event.

Many experts suggested the country is one of Europe's bargain destinations for ski holidays over the last winter, with prices typically cheaper than in more established snow resorts.
