Book Croatia holiday to see Tyson Gay in action
24 August 2010Athletics fans may be clamouring to book accommodation in Croatia for an upcoming holiday, after learning sprinter Tyson Gay is to appear at a competition.
The US athlete, who has a record of 9.69 seconds in the 100 metres event, will take part in the International Association of Athletics Federation (IAAF) World Challenge Zagreb on September 1st, reports the Croatian Times.
About 7,000 tickets for the contest have gone on sale, with fans perhaps having to move quickly if they are to witness Gay at his fastest.
Gay's recent achievements include beating the world's fastest man Usain Bolt in the 100 metres in Stockholm earlier this month, the newspaper explains.
The Zagreb leg of the athletics championship is the final one stop of a tour that has taken in Melbourne, Madrid and Rio de Janeiro among others.
Only 27 competitions around the world have official IAAF status before their title, emphasising the prestige of the Croatian event.
