Book accommodation in Split for stunning Croatian scenery

Nestled between the turquoise waters of the Adriatic Sea and the Dinaric Mountains, the city of Split is one of Croatia's picture-postcard destinations, says a travel writer.

Judy McEuen, penning a piece for Troy Media, explains the landscape makes the resort a beautiful place to be - day or night, summer or winter.

But it is not all about nature, with the expert moving on to note the importance of some of Split's famous man-made structures, such as the Roman buildings that blend perfectly with baroque features.

Ms McEuen highlights Diocletian's Palace as the "major attraction" within the city, advising people to head to the emperor's quarters for the best views not only of the site but also the sea.

She promises the labyrinth of stone monuments that remains is still a "jaw-dropping sight", even 1,800 years after they were first put in place.

Soaking up winter sun in Split may be an ideal way to spend some time over the next few months, with budget flights with easyJet and reasonably-priced accommodation making the resort an affordable luxury for many.
