Book holiday in Croatia for chance to see the Pope
01 November 2010Devout Catholics are likely to be among those set to consider booking a holiday in Croatia, after it was reported the Pope is due to visit the country.
According to an article by the Croatian Times, cited to Jutarnji List, the head of the Roman Catholic church will travel to Croatia in the first half of 2011.
Pope Benedict XVI is said to have taken the country's government and church up on an offer to spend a weekend in the nation, which is likely to be in Zagreb.
Ivo Josipovic, president of Croatia, confirmed he had received a letter from the pontiff outlining his desire to stay in accommodation in Croatia, the news source explains.
It is not yet clear what the Pope will do during his time in the capital city, but public appearances and religious ceremonies are potential options that holidaymakers could participate in.
The religious figurehead visited the UK in September in the first trip to the country by a Pope since 1982.
