Brits 'now know what others always have about holidays in Croatia'
02 August 2010British travellers are finally catching up with their European counterparts in realising the appeal of a holiday in Croatia.
According to Tom Hall, travel editor at Lonely Planet, UK-based tourists now "know the country a little better", giving them the confidence to take flights to Croatia and enjoy a stay in quality accommodation.
"It has always been popular with German, Dutch, Italian and Austrian tourists," explains the expert, adding these nationalities have been aware of what Croatia has to offer "for a number of years".
That could include knowledge of the plethora of sandy, rocky and shingle beaches that line the picturesque Dalmatian coast.
It may also mean Britons have been lagging behind when it comes to visiting one of Europe's most historic cities, Dubrovnik, or the ancient spots of Trogir and Sibenik.
Dubrovnik is often dubbed the Pearl of the Adriatic, due to its aesthetic appeal that is a highlight for so many visitors.
