Car rental firms 'getting booked up'
17 June 2009Car rental firms across Europe are getting booked up quickly this year, suggesting the importance of sorting out travel arrangements prior to any trip abroad.
This situation is the same in Croatia as it is in many of the popular countries for holidays throughout the continent.
Reasons given for the shortage of car hire services include the economic crisis, which has restricted the number of cars companies can include in their fleets, and the fact some firms are letting staff go.
The Daily Telegraph reported earlier this year that some firms may have fewer cars on the road this summer - the time they are traditionally at their busiest. At the same time, the whole car industry is suffering and workers in the rental sector could lose their jobs.
People taking a Croatia holiday may want to hire a car to drive down the Dalmatia coast.
It is not uncommon for vacationers to explore some of the islands around Split before hitting the mainland again and taking the scenic drive all the way down to Dubrovnik on the southern edge of the country.
