Choose Croatia to beat credit crunch
19 October 2009A holiday in Croatia - outside of the eurozone - could be the perfect way to squeeze in an affordable break this winter.
Price comparison site Travelsupermarket.com believes the travel market is in for a "tough time" over the coming months, with many potential holidaymakers staying at home because of the credit crunch.
Bob Atkinson, Travelsupermarket.com's travel expert, said: "They [consumers] will look at price and by the time they add on all the charges, it is looking more than it did before. It may not be that they will stop travelling, but it doesn't appear as affordable as it once was."
Some people, wary of the pound's notorious struggle against the euro, might wish to look slightly further afield in order to pick up a great deal in a beautiful location.
And Croatia - where tourists can exchange one pound for around eight Croatian kunas - may fit the bill.
Croatia's landscape ranges from long, golden beaches to hilly retreats and stunning national parks full of wildlife.
There may well be something for literally everyone alongside the Adriatic.
According to the Office for National Statistics visits by Britons to Europe fell by 13 per cent in the last year.
