Coastal Croatia full of 'old Mediterranean charm'
13 February 2009The Coastal regions of Croatia offer the best parts of the Mediterranean and more, an expert has claimed.
As reported on nuwireinvestor.com, the Adriatic nation has been flooded by tourists eager to visit picturesque and culturally-rich destinations such as the walled city of Dubrovnik.
But while the country recently opened its doors to foreign property investors, initial uptake has been slow for those looking to snap-up a bargain holiday home.
Ivana Nesic, a spokeswoman for Adriatic Estate Consulting, told nuwireinvestor.com: "As in many Mediterranean countries, the property market in Croatia is a bit slow at the moment.
"Property prices are still much lower than in western Europe
[and] the Croatian coast is considered to be least affected with overbuilt areas and it still has that old Mediterranean charm."
She added that while the poor economic climate had dampened property investment, she expected this to pick up once the situation improved.
Earlier this month, the travel group Croatian Villas was singled out by the Times newspaper as one of the continent's best bargain holiday providers.
