Cost and sun 'just two reasons behind popularity of Croatia holidays'

There are now several reasons to choose a stay in accommodation in Croatia over its European rivals.

Tom Hall, travel editor at Lonely Planet, says the country has grown in popularity "hugely" in recent years.

While its reputation for being cheaper than other sun destinations may be seen by some as the most significant reason behind its success, the expert explains it is not all down to price.

"Cost is definitely one factor yes, but I think you'll find if you go to Spain or Greece in the present climate it will probably be comparable," Mr Hall states.

Indeed, temperatures in Croatia can often soar past 30 degrees Celsius during the warm summer months, potentially making it a top spot for both culture vultures and sun seekers.

One spot people may wish to head to is Dubrovnik, which was recently described by travel expert Jade Li, writing for Helium.com, as "captivating".
