Croatia aims to attract more holidaymakers
13 April 2010Croatian authorities are preparing to spend an extra 14.6 million kunas (£1.78 million) on attracting tourists to the country.
That will bring the total budget up to 219 million kunas, to be spent on marketing and promoting the country's historic cities and unspoilt beaches.
Some of the cash could be spent on advertising the highlights of Dubrovnik, considered by many to be Croatia's finest tourist destination.
With its ancient walls and cobbled streets, it is a hit with young travellers and celebrity holidaymakers.
The daily newspaper 24 Sata recently explained another scheme designed to lure tourists to Croatia.
Visa restrictions for visitors from China, India and some of the Arab countries will soon be relaxed, making a Croatia holiday an easier dream to fulfil.
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are among the famous faces to express an interest in Dubrovnik, with their intention to visit the city recently being revealed.
