Croatia could be a great choice for ski trip

Croatia may be a serious contender for Britons searching for a perfect winter ski holiday.

Independent holiday advice site Croatia Traveller says: "If you're a skier and going to Croatia you'll find the slopes easy to deal with and dirt cheap compared with other European resorts."

Mount Sljeme, close to Zagreb, is ideally located for a ski trip - it offers four ski-runs, two chair-lifts and a triple chair-lift and typically has snow for around three months each year.

Another option is Platak, north-east of Rijeka, with its seven ski-runs and ten kilometers of track.

Platak can have snow on the slopes as late as May and there is a wide range of mountain-top accommodation to choose from, the travel guide site states.

Last week hitched.co.uk revealed that honeymoons in Eastern Europe, including in Croatia, are becoming more popular.

Romantic Britons may now want to consider the benefits of including skiing on the honeymoon itinerary.
