Croatia expected to enjoy a record year for tourism
30 October 2009Nearly nine million visitors headed to Croatia in the first nine months of the year, a record number for the country.
According to Balkantravellers.com, news publication Vecernji reported that the period from January to September saw a one per cent increase in the number of internationals coming to Croatia.
It can be inferred from the results that demand is rising for Croatian villas and other holidays in the country at a time when some of Europe's most established tourism markets have seen significant declines.
Croatia was found to be particularly popular among Germans, Italians, Slovenians and Austrians.
Earlier this week, winter sports expert Tim Holmes suggested at the Metro Ski and Snowboard Show that skiing holidays will be as in-demand as ever this winter, despite the economic downturn.
With that in mind, Croatia could see continued strong demand from tourists, particularly in the mountainous regions of the country, throughout the winter months of the year.
