Croatia expects 5,000 fans for handball event
02 January 2009It is expected 5,000 foreign fans will arrive in the Croatian town of Varazdin for the World Handball Championships this month, it has been reported.
Preparations have been completed for the event, which expects to see 2,000 fans from Macedonia, 1,500 from Germany and 1,000 from Russia attend the contest.
According to Mak Fax online, Macedonia will play their matches in a group which includes Poland, Germany, Russia, Algeria and Tunisia.
The contests in Group C of the event will begin on January 17th when a game is played between Macedonia and Tunisia, the source says.
Croatian athletes who traditionally lack the conditions to train in have achieved several good results in their fields of sport during 2008, it has recently been reported.
Skiers Janica and Ivica Kostelic, high jumper Blanka Vlasic and swimmer Duje Draganja are just a few of the sportspeople who have done well, according to javno.com.
