Croatia expects successful tourist season
14 January 2009Tourism in Croatia is expected to continue on from it successes last year, according to the country's government.
Speaking to Reuters, the minister for tourism Damir Bajs claimed that the south-east European destination will offer "better value for money" in 2009, in possible reference to the poor euro exchange rate.
It is thought that in 2008 Croatia earned in excess of seven billion euros from its tourism industry.
According to Reuters, Mr Bajs said: "So far we have no indications of weaker booking from tourist agencies.
"We will have a better quality offer and better value for money this year."
Mr Bajs added that improvements to the country's motorways also worked in favour of tourism, as he said most holidaymakers travel to Croatia by car.
One of Croatia's major draws is it abundance of UNESCO World Heritage Sites, including the Cathedral of St James, the Plitvice Lakes National Park and the Old City of Dubrovnik.
