Croatia holiday is good value for money, says tourism expert

An increasing number of Britons are identifying spots such as Croatia as the best value for money when it comes to booking their summer holiday.

Meri Matesic, director at the Croatian National Tourist Office, says taking a break outside of the eurozone has become the norm for many UK residents in the last two years.

Among traditional holiday destinations on the continent, Croatia is one of the few yet to adopt the euro as its currency.

That, according to Ms Matesic, makes it "increasingly popular among British holidaymakers".

Its success, she says, is based on "the good value for money it offers plus the irrefutably stunning natural and cultural beauty" to be found in the country.

The weakening of the pound may have persuaded many Britons to look away from familiar destinations - such as Spain and Italy - and towards a country where a pound equates to eight kunas.
