Croatia holiday 'is great chance to sample local food'
10 May 2010People heading to Croatia for a holiday this year should get a feel for the country by eating local food while they are there.
Daniel Landon, writing for TNT magazine, says Croatia offers a wide range of cuisine, which often varies to suit the season.
In the winter, traditional meals are heavy and meat-based in order to fill people up during the cold months.
However, on the warmer Dalmatian coast, the food is close to Mediterranean in style - and is heavily based on fish.
"Once you see how clean and clear the water is, you'll realise why the seafood in the region is so renowned," Mr Landon states.
Croatia's food may also have influences from Italy, with the two countries separated only by the width of the Adriatic Sea.
People heading to the Adriatic coast this summer may wish to head to spots such as Dubrovnik, noted for its rich history and charm.
