Croatia holiday may appeal to fine art fans

Collectors of top-quality fine art and luxury antiques may wish to book a Croatia holiday this year, after the country's work was accepted for auction in London.

Premier auction house Sotheby's will put pieces by two Croatian artists under the hammer in June, the Croatian Times reports.

The creations of Vlaho Bukovac and Ivan Mestrovic will be sold at two separate events on the same day, June 2nd.

Mestrovic's work is estimated to be worth between £40,000 and £60,000, the newspaper explains.

Some people with a passion for high-end art could opt to cut out the middle man and head to Croatia themselves for a holiday.

While in the country, the antique shops and art galleries of the capital Zagreb and the historic port city of Dubrovnik in the south may be of particular interest.

Collectors could use the first-class facilities offered by British Airways or Croatian Villas in order to reach the Adriatic coast.
