Croatia holiday named top bargain by newspaper

The Independent has suggested taking a holiday is great value for money, having named it its Bargain of the Week.

Low-cost airlines now rely on destinations such as Split and Dubrovnik to create a significant portion of their revenue, such is their popularity.

And now, according to the newspaper, such carriers have stepped up the services they offer to take travellers to Croatia.

From as early as this week a new set of timetables will come into effect for the summer season, which sees easyJet launch a daily flight from London Stansted to the Balkan country and British Airways fly to Dubrovnik from London Gatwick for as little as £148 return.

Taking a cheap flight to Croatia can leave tourists with more of their budget to splash out on a luxury Croatian villa.

Last month, budget airline Wizz Air announced it too would be starting a new service to the Dalmatian coast, serving Split from London Luton.
