Croatia holidays 'enjoy one of world's greatest surges in popularity'
29 December 2010Taking a holiday in Croatia became a significantly more popular option over the last year, according to the latest figures.
New statistics revealed by the Ministry of Tourism show the country welcomed seven per cent more visitors in 2010 than in 2009, a report by Vecernji List cited by the Croatian Times states.
The figure made it the fourth-fastest growing national travel sector in the world, behind only South Korea, China and Germany.
And minister of tourism Damir Bajs is aiming for more growth in 2011, as the country aims to make holidays in Croatia an even more common occurrence.
"Europe is hoping for a modest growth of two to three per cent of foreign guests at the most. Croatia shares that goal and if we manage to beat it that would be a big success," the news source quotes him as saying.
