Croatia holidays 'set for a boost'

Croatian holidays look set for a boost in popularity after specialists claimed growing numbers of travellers have been heading to the country in recent times.

Speaking to Bloomberg, analyst at Splitska Banka Zdeslav Santic explained people appear to have been avoiding Greece due to its recent debt crisis and travelling north instead.

As a result, Goran Saravanjam, analyst at Zagrebacka Bancka, noted he expects revenue generated by the tourism industry to rise by five per cent this year compared to 2009.

The news provider stated: "Croatia's Adriatic Sea resorts include the ancient walled city of Dubrovnik, the island of Hvar and the sailing destination of Kornati archipelago."

It added the nation's "blue waters and green islands" attract an average of ten million visitors every year.

Those inspired to visit the region may want to consider comments from Lonely Planet, which describe the Adriatic Coast as being extremely sunny, with beautiful, clear waters.
