Croatia is the "emerging destination" in Europe's tourism market
27 October 2010Recent years have seen a shift from traditional tourist heavyweights such as London, Paris and Rome towards up-and-coming destinations, like those enjoyed by people on holiday in Croatia.
Dion Jensen, general manager at Flight Centre Queensland, says many people who have visited western Europe are not content to return to the same places and are instead opting for cities such as Dubrovnik in great numbers, reports aus.news.com.
This is reflected by the fact travel chiefs now focus on promoting central and eastern countries as much as they do others, while brochures for Dubrovnik, Budapest and Prague are as glossy as those of their rivals.
"Croatia is really the emerging destination at the moment. It has fantastic history, as well as a great coastal town scene," the expert tells the news source.
Another advantage of travelling to Dubrovnik instead of Paris, Rome or London is cost, with Travelex.co.uk recently noting families would save £150 by holidaying in Croatia over Cornwall during the current half-term break.
