Croatia may provide value-for-money summer holiday

Croatia may be one of Europe's premier holiday destinations when it comes to value for money.

An expert from Post Office Travel Money notes the importance of choosing a destination that will be affordable - and not only for flights and accommodation.

When asked whether tourists are guilty of looking only at the two initial outlays, spokesman Alistair Rennie said: "Not in all cases of course, there are some pretty savvy travellers out there, but that does tend to be the main focus when people are budgeting for a holiday."

Croatia, lying outside the eurozone and using the kuna as its currency, could be considered by some travellers to be a cheaper option than many other established holiday spots.

Indeed, pintprice.com indicates a pint of beer in the country will cost an average of £1.60 - compared with £2.36 in Spain and £4.72 in France.

Holidaymakers can currently take advantage of an exchange rate that values £1 at 8.6 kunas.
