Croatia motoring holiday 'should be properly planned'

Tourists gearing up for a motoring holiday in Croatia this summer have been advised to spend a little time preparing prior to departure.

Sarah Munro, head of Post Office Travel Money, said it is worth considering the practicalities of a destination and the facilities for motorists.

In particular, fuel prices can vary greatly compared with the UK, so locating cheaper stations may help to minimise the cost of a break.

"Another thing to consider is getting the money sorted out before you go, particularly if you're talking a rural holiday," explained the expert.

Such advice could be particularly relevant to those due to take flights to Croatia and enjoy the country by road, as large portions of it are green and may not offer urban facilities.

Croatia is also home to several toll roads, so carrying kunas at all times during a trip may be advisable.

According to figures by the organisation, the price of diesel is largely cheaper in Europe than in the UK, which could make a hire car that runs on the fuel a shrewd choice.
