Croatia rolls out TV tourism push
26 February 2009Croatian authorities have rolled out a major push to increase tourism to the country over the summer, it has been reported.
According to the news portal Javno, Croatia's tourism board has begun advertising the nation's attractions on a number of high-profile television networks.
The campaign is said to specifically focus on drawing in visitors from Norway, Russia, Switzerland, the UK and a whole host of European Union (EU) members.
Writing for Javno, Lajla Mlinaric Blake said: "The boosting of global TV advertising of Croatian tourism is part of measures aimed at boosting Croatian tourism this year.
"BBC World was selected as a television network intended for the global audience, while Euronews - a European television network - was selected because it is one of the most viewed informative networks in 17 EU countries."
The country's tourism industry also received a boost earlier this month when the budget carrier Ryanair announced that it would be launching a new route to Osijek from Germany's Frankfurt Hahn Airport.
