Croatia 'set for extended holiday season'
31 August 2010Tourism bosses in Croatia are pleased with the number of people who have travelled to the country for a holiday this summer.
Damir Bajs, minister for tourism, says the industry is so positive the traditional season could be extended for the first time in history, the Croatian Times explains.
His positive prediction came after the release of figures by the World Tourism Association that reveal a strong performance by the Croatian holiday sector during July and August.
While some destinations became less popular, Croatia recorded a rise in business of five per cent.
"We mustn't be prematurely euphoric, but we must work to the end of the season. Our guests must receive good service and a smile in the post-season," the publication reports Mr Bajs as saying.
Among the areas that may be at the top of the list for potential travellers is Rovinj, which was described recently as a slice of Venetian Italy by Jo Fernandez, writing for the London Evening Standard.
