Croatia travellers set to enjoy local cuisine at festival
06 May 2010Tourists with a passion for Mediterranean-style cooking may wish to head to Croatia this month, where an olive oil festival is due to be held.
The Week of Olive Oil will take place between May 10th and 16th in the port of Split, on Croatia's Adriatic coast, explains the Croatian Times.
Bosses of the Olive Oil Shop in Uje promise all those who attend the event will be taken on a guided tasting tour, enjoying the finest produce the country has to offer.
In conjunction with the event, local restaurants will be offering travellers the chance to taste traditional Croatian dishes, the newspaper reports.
And even those who wish to find out a little more about the origin and production of olive oil will be catered for, with a series of lectures due to run.
People on a Croatia holiday during the festival could use their time in Split to visit local theatres and the picturesque harbour - both of which the city is famous for.
