Croatia visitors could plan ahead to heed Post Office warnings
21 October 2009Post Office advice not to leave holiday plans to the last minute could be of interest to tourists taking a trip to Croatia.
More than 4.8 million British holidaymakers have booked a winter getaway already - many of whom may be heading for the beautiful beaches and stunning national parks of Croatia.
But more than one-third of people do not pack until the day before they travel - a figure that rises to 42 per cent of 20 to 29-year-olds - causing increased stress at what should be a relaxing time.
And those who buy their currency, which could include Croatian kunas, just before take-off end up paying an average of ten per cent more for their troubles.
Sarah Munro, the Post Office's head of travel services, said: "Those who leave their planning to the last minute are creating stress for themselves. Buying foreign currency at the last minute can leave you with less cash to spend while you're away."
Earlier this month research by FairFX.com suggested that buying kunas online is the cheapest way of securing cash for a Croatian adventure.
