Croatian art museum could make perfect holiday activity
11 December 2009Art lovers may want to book a trip to Croatia after learning that the country's new Museum of Contemporary Art is to open its doors to the public for the first time tomorrow (December 12th).
The museum, located on Dubrovnik Avenue in Zagreb, offers the chance to view a number of popular and iconic paintings as well as exhibitions by notorious artists, reports the Croatian Times.
One such example is the inauguration of the Roller-Coaster work by German artist Carsten Holler, which is due to take place today.
Other pictures on display in the Zagreb establishment will include Eyes of Purification by Miroslaw Balka and Artist at Work by Dalibor Martinis, the publication reveals.
A special opening ceremony is set for this afternoon where local journalists and figureheads will declare the museum open.
At 18,000 sq m the art complex should be big enough to keep any art fanatics on a Croatian holiday entertained for hours.
People heading to the Museum of Contemporary Art may also wish to visit an exhibition of work by Ukrainian artist Oksana Veber which is running in Zadar throughout December.
