Croatian artist opens gallery in Manhattan
16 December 2008A 72-year-old Croatian artist has opened a gallery in Manhattan, although she has never sold a painting or held a public viewing of her work before.
The self-funded gallery features only work by Ana Tzarev and is 14,000 sq ft with two storeys and was designed by James Hard Architects.
Last week the artist held her opening night with an exhibition of her works entitled Voyage of Discovery, however another opening will be held in March next year.
Ms Tzarev was not in attendance at the event at the gallery near Fifth Avenue, which will cost £1.2 million a year for the next ten years to lease.
An exhibition featuring the work of travel writer Mario Saletto opened at the Technical Museum in Zagreb last week, it has been reported.
Entitled the World Revealed - TV Studio in a Backpack, the exhibition looks at the numerous television documentary films made by Saletto, find-croatia.com says.
