Croatian chefs bring home championship bronze
27 February 2009A team of Croatian chefs have scooped a bronze medal at a renowned culinary tournament, it has been reported.
The awards were dished out at the recent Welsh International Culinary Championships, where the representatives from the south-east European nation put in a gastronomical performance to secure third place, according to the Croatian Times.
Respected Zagreb-based chefs Berislav Lackovic and Branko Ognejenovic of the capital's Bon Appetit restaurant headed up the team, who were invited to the event based on their impressive appearance at the Culinary Olympics last year.
According to the newspaper, the task was made all the more harder as the chefs as they were given only three opportunities to practice for the event - although the eventual result obviously went down well with the judges.
Away from the International Culinary Championships, Croatia is well-known for its diverse and rewarding cuisine, which is characterised by meals such as dumplings, roast pork and schnitzel.
