Croatian coast set for influx of Easter travellers
30 March 2010Tourism bosses in Croatia are anticipating the arrival of an increased number of travellers this Easter.
Makarska, south of Split, already has reservations for 800 visitors during the period, the Croatian Times reports.
Tonci Lalic, from the Makarska Tourist Board, tells the newspaper more travellers are expected than last year, when 600 people stayed in the town over Easter.
"It seems our regular guests have recognised our quality and we will be glad to see them come back each year," the official states.
Makarska offers a wide range of accommodation - including Croatian villas - which may be an ideal base from which to explore the Dalmatian coast.
It is also perfectly located for day trips to the nearby islands of Hvar and Brac.
The Croatian National Tourist Board recently recommended taking a break on Hvar during Easter in order to enjoy the 500-year-old rituals and celebrations that still occur today.
