Croatian farmer in green egg phenomenon

A poultry farmer in Croatia was recently given a shock after discovering his prize hen had been laying green eggs.

Stipa Gregacevic, who owns a farm in Forkusevci, was amazed when he discovered that his bird, Fata, had been producing the strangely-coloured eggs, Ananova reported.

Luckily for him though, the oddity has seen a wave of customers queuing up to pay double the usual amount for every dozen.

Mr Gregacevic was speechless as to how the phenomenon occurred.

He told the news agency: "I can't really explain why it happens. Some say it might be because we put red pepper in the hen food.

"We're an organic farm and we're always being told be more green, but I don’t think this is what the scientists have in mind."

Earlier this year, the villagers of Nustar in Vukovar-Srijem broke a world record after cooking up a sausage of more than 500 metres in length.
