Croatian handball heroes prepare for semi-final
28 January 2009The Croatian national handball side is busy gearing up for its semi-final match up versus Poland at the World Championship.
Following their defeat of France 22:19 in the last round, Croatia are expecting a much sterner test against the Poles when they meet in Zagreb on Friday (January 31st).
Speaking to the entertainment site Javno, the national side's coach Lino Cervar suggested that his team were up for the fight.
He said: "I am very happy with the play, but mostly with the approach of the younger players that wanted to show that they deserve to be in the national team."
He added that Poland would be a "tough and strong opponent" in the next round, but that the Croatian side would no doubt be spurred on by the 15,000 supporters watching.
In other sports news, London-based soccer side Tottenham Hotspur's Croatian attacking midfielder Luka Modric has been linked with a move to the Italian side Inter Milan.
