Croatian island 'is one of Europe's dream holiday destinations'
23 April 2010The Croatian holiday resort of Vis has been named as one of Europe's top ten dream islands.
A report by vacation reviewer and advisor Shermans Travel ranks the Adriatic island as one of the continent's finest for a relaxing and enjoyable break.
It states: "With its medieval villages, deserted beaches, ancient ruins, rambling olive groves and the best vineyards in Dalmatia, Vis is poised to become the next it spot for sun and fun."
One aspect of Vis that may tempt families and couples to book a Croatia holiday there is its ability to offer both top-class beach facilities and cultural towns.
Indeed, the study notes both urban Vis and Komiza are "brimming" with restaurants serving "delicious" seafood.
Meanwhile, the island's "glittering" shores are a hit with sunbathers and those in search of a quiet time.
Other islands that are likely to be popular with travellers this summer include Brac and Hvar, which is just off the coast of Split.
