Croatian property finds favour with EU investors
27 February 2009Croatian property has been finding favour with European investors and holiday home seekers, it has been claimed.
Authorities in the country opted to change legislation from this month, allowing non-Croatian buyers to purchase housing with the same rights at the locals.
According to the UK manager at Investment Group Croatia, Andrea Marston, this has led to interest from a number of regions.
She said: "I don't think there are going to be that many British and Irish buyers still, there will be a few, but it has been predominantly Germans and Austrians."
She also forecast that prices in the country could fall marginally in the near future.
"We will see prices drop slightly because there have not been huge increases on property prices over the last two or three years."
Figures published by the Croatian Bureau of Statistics last year showed that the average price of new apartments in the country stood at just under £1,500 per square metre.
