Croatian satnav system could help holidaymakers

People opting for a motoring holiday in Croatia in future could be helped by a new navigation system which has been released this week by Navteq.

The digital mapping system has more than 85,000 roads on its database and can find routes for all parts of the Balkan country.

It could be especially useful for first-time visitors to Croatia, helping with routes such as those from a luxury Croatian villa to the nearest beach or city centre.

The satnav also features data for 159 of the Adriatic islands off Croatia's west coast - making it ideal for those who plan to hop on a ferry and enjoy islands such as Krk.

Other functions designed to help both locals and tourists include 3D images of major landmarks in Zagreb and Split which help to orientate drivers.

Ivan Murn, of real estate agency My Home, this week stated that the Vinodolska region in western Croatia is an ideal location for a "high-class" holiday.
