Croatian skier wins race
22 December 2008A Croatian skier has won the men's World Cup slalom today (December 22nd), ahead of Frenchman Jean-Baptiste Grange and Benjamin Raich of Austria.
Ivica Kostelic finished the run in a time of 49.26 seconds, which allowed him to pick up his ninth career win on alpine skiing's elite circuit.
The 29-year-old Croatian was victorious in the race which saw the lead skier change several times and finished in a total time of one minute 39.83 seconds.
Kostelic, who claimed his first World Cup podium of the season in the giant slalom, said it was beautiful coming to the finish and seeing his name above everyone else.
"I was a little bit surprised with the first run, especially at the bottom I didn't think I was so fast. But it's great to win again," he added.
Zagreb in Croatia is to hold the 18th International Boat and Sport Show, which will take place from February 18th to 22nd and attract people from the boating world.
