Croatian sunshine holiday may appeal to frozen Britons
31 December 2009Freezing weather in the UK is pushing up sales of holidays to warmer destinations - which could include sunshine hotspot Croatia.
Demand for foreign breaks is up 15 per cent on this time last year, says price comparison site travelsupermarket.com, reported by the Express.
The holiday site also reveals it enjoyed 65 per cent more enquiries in the three days after Christmas compared with the days leading up to December 25th.
Bob Atkinson, a spokesman for the website, suggests that the increased number of holidaymakers will mean last-minute deals are harder to come by in 2010.
He tells the newspaper: "If you are stuck on dates and you are fairly certain where you want to go then sniff out the good deal now and book."
One destination under consideration for many could be Croatia, with its reliable sunshine and beautiful beaches a draw for many tourists.
Even at Christmas, whilst the UK froze, Croatia enjoyed spring-like conditions of up to 17 degrees Celsius.
