Croatian teen lands programming medal
03 February 2009A Croatian teenager has been commended for his computer programming skills following a recent world tournament.
Zagreb's Goran Zuzic was handed the bronze medal and prize money of $1,000 at the annual TopCoder High School competition, which unites the planet's hottest programming talents.
Aimed specifically at ages 13 to 18 years old, the event pits teenagers against each other in maths and complex computer science-based problem solving scenarios.
President of TopCoder, Rob Hughes, commented: "The annual TopCoder High School competition is a world-class platform for high school students to demonstrate their programming talents and skills to the world."
He added that the computer programming tournament was a "fun and educational way" to engage talented young students.
The medal is the second Croatia has picked up in the last few days, with the country's handball team scooping silver at the World Championship in Zagreb last weekend.
