Croatian travellers could be boosted by continuation of cheaper air fares
10 December 2009Travellers considering booking a trip to Croatia in the future may be pleased to hear that one expert believes airlines will not be able to put their prices back up to previous levels for some time.
With cheaper flights available, 2010 could be a year in which the popularity of Croatia as a tourist destination continues to rise.
David Henderson, spokesman for the Association of European Airlines, says: "The airlines have been discounting their fares very heavily and the market has got used to [these]. We don't think the airlines will be able to put their fares back to where they were."
With bargain rates on offer, it could be the perfect time to explore ancient cities such as Dubrovnik and Zagreb, or relax on the sun-kissed beaches of the Dalmatian coast.
Short-haul travel in Europe - including journeys to and from Croatia - stood up comparatively well in the first two-thirds of 2009, with business decreasing by only six per cent on the previous year's levels.
