Croatian villas 'part of rich supply of luxury accommodation'

Tourists searching for a luxury Croatian villa may be better off heading towards Dubrovnik or the Istrian region, if one travel expert is to be believed.

Meri Matesic, director at the Croatian National Tourist Office, says the areas are among the greatest for top-quality accommodation on a Croatia holiday.

She also notes the standard of facilities offered on many of the Adriatic islands - such as Brac and Hvar - is equally high.

As such, these are the most visited places among celebrity tourists who travel to Croatia.

In addition to high-class stays in the regions, A-list holidaymakers often use private yachts to see the country's highlights.

Ms Matesic states: "[Celebrities] are spending a lot of their time on their boats and then with small boats doing excursions or day trips to the city or to the islands."

The tourism chief recently suggested a Dubrovnik holiday was among the best value-for-money breaks around.
