Croatian way of life may appeal to tourists

The way of life in cities such as Varazdin, Samobor and Dubrovnik could appeal to those planning a Croatia holiday, after they were named by Forbes magazine as the country's best places to be.

Last year's winner Rovinj slipped down the list to 13th place, the Croatian Times reports.

But it is the satisfaction of those living and working in spots like Dubrovnik that may back up the hopes of people mulling over a break on the Adriatic coast.

The mayor of Varazdin, which topped the poll, is reported by the newspaper to have said: "Of course we are the best."

Tourists might now decide to bear the results of the survey in mind when choosing their holiday destination for this summer.

Dubrovnik, for example, was recently said by the Guardian to be the second-most romantic place in Europe, while a study of wives and girlfriends showed it is the place they would most like to go to escape this summer's World Cup.
