Croatians eagerly await U2 performances
03 April 2009Pop music fans in Croatia are eagerly awaiting a weekend of performances from their heroes U2, it has been reported.
According to the South-east European Times, music lovers queued for hours to get their hands on coveted passes for one of the two concerts, which take place in Zagreb on August 9th and 10th.
In the publication, Natasa Radic noted that the city had not witnessed such a scene since the opening of its first McDonalds restaurant 13 years ago.
She wrote: "Even though it was a cold night, fans mingled in the streets of Zagreb, bearing sleeping bags, beer and flasks of coffee.
"They started gathering immediately after midnight, waiting for more than 40 ticket outlets nationwide to open Saturday morning."
She added that U2's decision to play in the Croatian capital, along with upcoming performances by Depeche Mode and Beyonce, had "revived the status" of Zagreb.
Rock and roll lovers may also be interested in buying tickets for June's T-Mobile INmusic festival in the city, which will feature sets by Lily Allen, Kraftwerk and Franz Ferdinand.
