Croatians prepare palates for wine festival
18 February 2009Lovers of reds and whites a like are set to descend on Zagreb next month for the arrival of its annual wine festival.
The capital's second yearly Zagreb Wine Gourmet Festival will feature more than 500 speciality bottles from over 120 of the world's best winemakers.
Visitors to the two-day event will also be gorged on culinary delights sourced from Italy, Austria, Hungary, Serbia and Croatia itself.
Budding vintners who travel to the city will be offered tuition and seminars from the Masters of Wine Association's deputy chief, Lynne Sheriff, who will lead a workshop on South African varieties.
The Zagreb Wine Gourmet Festival will be held at the city's Museum for Arts and Crafts on March 27th and 28th. Its opening will be celebrated the night before at the city's Regent Esplanade Hotel.
Music-lovers may instead be tempted to visit Zagreb this month for the eagerly-awaited Invazia Indoor music festival, which takes place on February 20th and 21st.
