Croatia's Eduardo nearing comeback
09 January 2009Croatian soccer international Eduardo da Silva is close to making his Premier League comeback after breaking his leg almost a year ago.
According to a report in the Guardian, the manager of English team Arsenal - where Eduardo currently plies his trade - revealed that the striker was almost ready for first-team action.
The news will come as a relief for both fans of the Gunners and the Croatian national side, who have sorely missed the 25-year-old's attacking capabilities.
The player's club coach, Arsene Wenger, told Arsenal TV: "Eduardo is fit now and available to play.
"He lacks competition ... but I have been impressed with his performances in training this week."
Wenger added that although Eduardo felt fit enough to play, he was not quite ready to risk the Brazilian-born schemer.
Prior to moving to the English league, Eduardo was on the books of Croatian champions Dinamo Zagreb, the most popular football club in the country.
