Croatia's Kranjcar revels in attack role
27 February 2009Croatian football superstar Niko Kranjcar is revelling in his new attacking role, it has been reported.
The Zagreb-born winger - who plays in England for Portsmouth - has come into his own in recent games for his club, according to the city's News.
Kranjcar told the newspaper: "As long as I'm in the team I'm happy - but I think the manager knows what my best position is.
"I like the freedom and the closeness to goal [and] the chance to make the assists and to get a goal myself."
He suggested that despite his preference for playing in an attack-minded role, he was happy to perform in any position the coach asked of him.
Prior to linking up with Portsmouth in the UK, 24-year-old Kranjcar plied his trade with his native Croatia's Dinamo Zagreb and Hajduk Split - two the country's most popular outfits.
