Dalmatia offers 'friendly people and mountain retreats'

The Adriatic coastal region of Dalmatia has been highlighted as the perfect retreat for travellers from all over the world.

That's according to StarExponent.com, which believes that the region - which stretches through Croatia, Slovenia and Montenegro - offers an exciting holiday experience at a "reasonable price".

Writing for the website, Melanie Chambers predicted that the region would be a popular holiday destination this summer for a variety of reasons.

She said: "They are emerging as very popular new sanctuaries, with greatly improving tourist infrastructures, lovely beaches, ancient walled cities, friendly people and mountain retreats."

The Croatian region of the Dalmatian coast also benefits from being outside of the eurozone, meaning that travellers are not affected by the poor sterling-euro exchange rate.

Some of the attractions in Dalmatia include the historic cities of Split and Dubrovnik, while Montenegro's Bay of Kotor offers spectacular scenery combined with a Mediterranean climate.
