Day of the dolphins ideal for those on Croatian holiday?
10 August 2010A Croatian holiday may have given animal lovers the chance to enjoy the Day of the dolphins, which took place on Saturday (August 7th).
According to the Croatian National Tourist Board, the traditional event - held in Veli Losinj since 1993 - offered visitors the opportunity to learn about the large communities of bottlenose dolphins that inhabit the seas surrounding the islands Cres and Losinj.
The body noted the gathering takes place on the first Saturday of every August and includes sports, games, workshops, lectures and exhibitions all centred on the theme of the marine creatures.
It added visiting Veli Losinj may be an excitement in itself, noting the destination contains "beautiful gardens", a harbour and warm climate.
The location is also ideal for a variety of sporting activities, its official website notes.
Tourists often go and explore the nearby hills, while there are also tennis courts and surfing, sailing and diving schools on offer.
Croatian Villas offering villas, apartments and waterside properties in Central Dalmatia and the islands.
