Day-trip tips for travellers to Dubrovnik revealed
22 March 2010A tourism expert has described some of the spots that travellers to Dubrovnik would be well-advised to take a day trip to, should they wish to leave the ancient city for a few hours.
Meri Matesic, director of the Croatian National Tourist Office for London, suggested the landscape of the surrounding area makes it ideal for exploring.
The Peliesac Peninsula is described as a "must-do" by Ms Matesic, with "stunning" views, ancient vineyards and olive groves particular highlights.
Also worth a visit is the Elaphite Islands - made up of Kolocep, Lopud and Sipan - which are easily accessible by boat from Dubrovnik.
Those on a Dubrovnik holiday and searching for a snapshot of the past could take the tourism director's advice and head to the Museum of Archaeology in Vid, near Metkovic.
One review on the TripAdvisor website last week detailed the "very vibrant" feel of Dubrovnik, while others noted the city is particularly rich in culture.
